We took this piece to the jeweler and had it tested and it is sterling. This ring weighs 32.9 grams total weight. Ring size is a 10 1/2. Ring and stones are in very good condition. At this time I have for your consideration a handmade ring by Navajo artist Darryl Dean Begay. About Darryl, his mastery of tufa casting is second to none and he incorporates the finest natural turquoise in his pieces. In 2009 at the Indian market in Santa Fe he received top honors by winning the coveted Best of Show award. Darryl’s art can be found in the finest collections here and abroad as well as the select high end galleries which carry him. His lapidary mastery is also of note and his teacher was none other than Raymond Yazzie. His art is also found in some of the finest books regarding the subject. Measurements of the ring are 1/3 of an inch in width at the bottom of the band and graduating upwards to 5/8 of an inch beneath the bezel. The silver band is solid at the bottom then splits to three bands halfway up. The bezel housing is a separate piece which has been cast and then soldered onto the top of the three bands. A beautifully cast bezel as well thats been ground and buffed until achieving a satin finish, gauge of the silver is quite thick and most likely 20 gauge. The turquoise used is 100% natural and a rich dark blue with pyrite and the finest tight spider webbing that can be found here domestically. Top grade turquoise from the Turquoise Mountain mine of the Kingman mining district. This is as good as Turquoise Mountain will get and its color and webbing put it on par with the best turquoise from any of the Nevada mines. Measurements for the cab are 14/16 of an inch in length by 5/8 of an inch for width. There is a good height as well above the bezel and the shape is a calibrated oval which is rare to find in quality turquoise because of the cost in shaping in. Total weight is grams. My asking price is well below retail pricing that you’d expect to pay at the select high end galleries which carry Darryl Begay’s jewelry. Returns are not accepted so please serious buyers only. I’ve included a large group of photos to provide an accurate description of the color and web. If asked I can provide more if needed as it was very difficult taking a good photo of the turquoise.
